You probably own a serum but still wonder how it's different from creams. Well, Serums are skin products created and designed to provide high concentrations of active ingredients and are made of smaller molecules than creams to enable deeper and quicker absorption. There are different types of serums that give you hydration, as well as, dark spot healing to plump the skin. Serums typically have thin viscosity compared to creams, and due to the higher concentration, serums take a shorter time to absorb and for you to see results. Serums are clear, gel-based or liquid, and they tend to be less thick than a moisturizer. They’re best to be applied before moisturizers.

Serums usually contain topical antioxidants including vitamin A, C , E and Botanicals. They often contain retinols that improve skin tone. When used in combination with moisturizers, serums are well-suited for pigmentation and blotchy redness.

Bare in mind that there are different categories of serums: anti-aging, hydrating, brightening.

For Brightening serums, look for: glycolic acid, vitamin C, ferulic acid and lactic acid.

For Anti-aging serums, look for: retinal and bakuchiol.

For Hydrating serums, remember H ... Hyaluronic acid for Hydration.
